Experience

I tutor students so they are able to learn a wide range of math topics, from Algebra and Trigonometry to SAT preparation. I have experience working with a variety of different kinds of students in high school and college. As a tutor, my goal is not only to teach students how to do math. I very much enjoy helping them truly understand the subject of mathematics--not just rote memorization of formulas, but comprehending what the formulas mean and teaching them how the formulas are derived from easier concepts.More than anything I enjoy helping students uncover mathematical concepts on their own so that they feel more confident about their own abilities. In turn, they understand how math can be fun. As they continue on in their mathematical journey, confidence and the feeling that math will help them to continue to reach their goals.I have a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Statistics with a Computer Science minor from the University of Missouri; I attended their Kansas City campus. Right now I am preparing to take actuarial exams, but I am starting to seriously consider a graduate degree in Mathematics. When I am not working, I like playing computer games and reading.
